Maddy's 7th Birthday

So, it was the Princesses 7th Birthday yesterday.

She had a MARVELOUS day!!!

Firstly, the night before she couldn't fall asleep because of the excitement! Eventually she got to sleep at about 9:30pm or so, then she woke up at 1am whereon I wished her and I allowed her to open 1 present :) She opened the Ferrero Rocher chocolates, one of my Mom's pressies to her. Then she was up at 5:20am to open the rest of them.

I'll give a full inventory on all her gifts on Monday once she has had her party.

The cupcakes for birthday ring turned out REALLY beautifully and were enjoyed by all.

When I picked her up from school, her Aunt met us at the school to give her her gifts, then it was off to Build-a-Bear to get Yasmin the Dachshund, nice lunch and a stroll around Sandton (in her new Guess t-shirt no less) where she spent her birthday money she had received from various people.

She was SO knackered she fell fast asleep in the car on the way home.

Dinner was lovely, I set the table in a Princess theme and everyone had to wear tiara's :) she got more presents to open and we had butterfly cupcakes and quaffed Pongraz champagne.

Maddy only got to bed at 10pm with the horrible thought of having to go to school the next day......

A wonderful day had by all.

Oh and to the doubters out there - those cupcakes were made by mois from scratch, from the cupcake mixture to the edible glitter on top :)

Birthday Fever

Maddy's 7th Birthday is in a week's time and well birthday fever has hit the household (actually, it hit about 2 months ago already!).

My very kind and generous friend bought a whole lot of party accessories (that us unfortunate South Africans do not get here) in the States and brought them with her when she came to visit.

Then ontop of that, when my sister went to the states a month ago she bought Maddy even MORE party goodies!!!!

This year, Maddy has chosen a Disney Princess Tea Party at the Mugg n Bean in Broadachres where a real live Disney Princess hosts the party, does activities and plays games with all the kids!!!! Very cool! Her friends are bursting at the seams with excitement.

The cake this year is a 3D Sleeping Beauty cake which is absolutely gorgeous. For her birthday ring, I'm making cupcakes with various Disney Princess Cupcake Picks which are going to be gorgeous!!

A full update on the party will be posted at a later date!!!!!

The South African Ballet Theatre (SABT) School

Maddison has auditioned for entry into the South African Ballet Theatre School.

The auditions were held last Saturday at the National School of the Arts.

As part of their training, students perform with the SABT Company in its productions and have appeared in several seasons such as Coppélia, Don Quixote, The Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella. They have also danced in three seasons of full length performances of their own at the SA State Theatre, where they performed works especially created for them. Under the direction of SABT Principal dancer Mr Andries Weidemann, the faculty includes well known teachers Ms Natasha Ireland (Coach: SABT), Mr Alexei Ilin (Ballet Master: SABT) and Ms Jennavera Williams (Ballet Mistress: SABT School, State Theatre)

The School gives learners intensive ballet training allowing them to audition for the Company at age eighteen. Learners also have the opportunity to perform with the SABT during its seasons when required and are exposed to the inner workings of the ballet company. The SABT School regularly hosts leading ballet teachers from schools and companies around the world offering its learners exclusive opportunities to participate in master classes and train in a broad variety of techniques.

What an absolute privilege and honour it would be if she is accepted into the school.

They said we'd know by the end of the week - so once again - watch this space!!!!!

My Little Gingerbread Dancer

Maddy participated in her first Dance Festival and boy oh boy did it bring back memories of my tap/modern/ballet dancing days and the endless trips to The Cat's Whiskers dance shop to buy leotards and dance shoes - some of my best memories!!!

So it was my turn to dress Maddy up and spend a fortune - but it was ABSOLUTELY worth it!

She got an A+ for her Gingerbread dance - she was phenomenal - poised, polished, executed her steps meticulously - I was SO SO proud of her!!!!!!!
